Privacy Policy

The short version. Your projects and photos stay on your iPhone. When you turn a photo or an idea into a plan, it is sent — only with your permission — to Google’s Gemini AI to recognise the piece, and we don’t keep it. Templates work without AI. Plankly has no account and no ads, and it does not sell your data or track you across other apps. We collect pseudonymous usage analytics only if you turn them on (where the law requires consent) and crash reports to fix bugs. You can switch all three off at any time: Settings → Privacy.

Who we are

Plankly (“the app”, “we”, “us”) is developed and published by Matvey Pirogov, the controller of the personal data described in this policy. Contact: plankly@pirog.app.

Data that stays on your device

Everything you create in the app is stored only on your iPhone, in the app’s local storage:

your projects: the kind of piece, its sizes and options, the name you gave it and how far you got in the build steps;
photos you take or pick for a project (a smaller copy, kept with the project until you delete it);
app settings: units, store catalog, saw kerf, theme and your privacy choices.

We do not receive this data. It is included in your device backups according to your iCloud or computer backup settings. Deleting the app deletes it from your iPhone, with one exception: a random app ID stays in your iPhone’s Keychain, so the free first plan can’t be claimed again by reinstalling. It says nothing about you and is removed when you erase your iPhone.

Apple Ads attribution (Apple, via RevenueCat)	If you install Plankly after tapping one of our ads on the App Store, the app gets an attribution token from Apple’s AdServices framework, and RevenueCat exchanges it with Apple for the campaign, ad group, keyword and country of that ad. No advertising identifier (IDFA) is used, and Apple does not treat this as tracking. Used only to see which of our ads pay off.	Legitimate interest (measuring our own ads). Plan recognition (Google Cloud Functions for Firebase and Google Cloud Vertex AI with Gemini models, Google LLC / Google Ireland)	When you turn a photo or an idea into a plan, the photo (downsized to 1280 pixels) or the text you typed, your app language and store region, and the random app ID are sent to our cloud function in the EU (Belgium). It asks Google’s Gemini model to recognise the kind of piece and estimate its main sizes; the parts, cut list and steps are then calculated on your iPhone. We don’t keep the photo or the text on our servers, and Google doesn’t use them to train its models. We keep only counters per app ID — plans made in total, to honour the free first plan, and per month (deleted after 62 days), to keep the service within its budget.	Only with your permission: before the first photo or idea is sent, the app asks. Templates never use AI. You can withdraw permission at any time: Settings → Privacy → AI recognition of photos and ideas.
Google Firebase App Check with Apple App Attest (Google LLC / Google Ireland; Apple)	Protects plan recognition from abuse: the app proves to our cloud function that requests come from the genuine Plankly app on a real iPhone. Apple’s App Attest issues a cryptographic attestation of the app, which Google checks. It contains no personal data and isn’t used to identify or track you.	Always on — it only confirms the app is genuine (legitimate interest: keeping the service safe).
Google Firebase Analytics (Google LLC / Google Ireland)	Pseudonymous usage events: setup finished; a plan requested, made or failed and from which template; a size or option changed; a build step or the whole build done; the PDF shared; the 3D or AR view opened; the subscription screen or a one-time offer shown or closed, a purchase or restore made — never your photos, ideas or project names. Plus device model, OS version, app version and approximate country. No advertising ID is collected and the data is not used for ads.	In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland — off until you turn it on in Settings → Privacy (consent). Elsewhere — on by default (legitimate interest). Off at any time: Settings → Privacy.

The reminder before your free trial ends is a local notification scheduled on your iPhone; no push service is involved. The camera and photo library are used only when you choose to take or pick a photo for a plan.

Links to the App Store

Links to Plankly on our website and in our posts carry a campaign name, for example “launch-post”. Apple reports to us, in aggregate, how many people downloaded or subscribed after following each link.

What we don’t do

No account and no sign-in. No ads in the app and no advertising SDKs.
No tracking across apps and websites owned by other companies, and no advertising identifier (IDFA).
We don’t sell or share your personal data for advertising.
We don’t keep your photos or ideas on our servers and don’t use them to train AI.

How long data is kept

On-device data stays until you delete it or the app. Analytics data is kept for up to 14 months and crash reports for up to 90 days. Purchase records are kept by RevenueCat while needed to provide Pro and to meet legal accounting obligations.

International transfers

RevenueCat and Google may process data in the United States; Google may run the Gemini model in any of its regions. These transfers rely on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and/or the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or US state laws), you may have the right to access, correct or delete your data, to object to or restrict processing, to data portability and to withdraw consent at any time. Most data never leaves your device, so you control it directly. For analytics, crash or purchase data, write to plankly@pirog.app — include the approximate date of purchase if your request is about a subscription. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.

Children

Plankly is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date above. Significant changes will also be noted in the app’s release notes.
